Xaac Bay

• 2 miles (3 km) north of Akumal

Just 2 miles (3 km) north of Akumal is the lovely Xaac Bay. The full day Robinson Crusoe Cruise Catamaran trip to the bay from Akumal is a real adventure! The only way to get to this still virgin beautiful beach with a Mayan ruin is by boat. Ones you get there, they will cook for you a delicious lunch, fresh fruits, fresh fish, etc. Then you will spend the afternoon on the white sand. Coming back you will enjoy the most spectacular sunset views in Akumal! Make reservations at the travel agency by the dive shop in Akumal.

Xpu-Ha Beach

• 7 miles (10 km) north of Akumal

This magnificent beach is 7 miles (10 km) north of Akumal. Here you find an unique color of the ocean, like nowhere else! Take the entrance marked "La Playa" by the restaurant Xpu-Ha right after you have passed the Robinson Club entrance, turn right and drive about 1/2 mile to the beach. There is parking and a great beach bar restaurant with fresh fried fish. Beautiful for snorkeling and diving!

Puerto Aventuras Marina and Resort

• 10 miles (17 km) north of Akumal

The Puerto Aventuras Resort has a 9 hole golf course and is located 10 miles (17 km) north of Akumal. Puerto Aventuras is an impressive development with a marina, many good restaurants and shops. Great to spend the afternoon and for dinner.

Xcaret Ecopark

• 18 miles (30 km) north of Akumal

The popular Xcaret Ecopark is perfect for a full day adventure 18 miles (30 km) north of Akumal. The park has an aquarium, sea turtle hatchery, river snorkeling, jaguars, butterfly garden, and beautiful tropical garden. There is also an option to swim with the dolphins. Don't miss the spectacular nights shows with traditional Mexican dances and music! There are many good restaurants in the park for lunch.

Playacar Resort

• 20 miles (32 km) north of Akumal

This beautiful new resort has a world class 18 hole championship golf course and is 20 miles (32 km) north of Akumal. A wonderful tennis court and swimming pool for those who don't wish to play golf, and then meet in the clubhouse for a delicious lunch.

Playa del Carmen

• 22 miles (35 km) north of Akumal

Next door to Playacar, Playa del Carmen serves as a port for cruise ships and ferries which depart every hour to Cozumel Island. Playa del Carmen offers great shopping on "Quinta Avenida" - a boulevard for walking only (no cars allowed!). The Cozumel ferry is located on the beach right by the Playa del Carmen bus terminal. There are many good restaurants and lots of entertainment places.
